Welcome Hollie Prescott: Our New Innovation Manager

We're excited to announce that Hollie Prescott has joined Venture UWA as our new Innovation Manager.

Hollie brings something we don't often see in university innovation spaces: real operator experience. She's not just someone who teaches entrepreneurship — she's someone who's done it. She's built businesses, generated millions in revenue, scaled teams, and learned the hard way what works and what doesn't.

Now she's bringing all of that to UWA students and alumni.

Who is Hollie?

Originally from the UK, Hollie started her career studying maths and finance before pivoting into marketing and design. After graduating, she worked in product development at ASOS across menswear and womenswear, where she gained an early understanding of how ideas move from concept to customer.

From there, she moved into the agency world — working at Saatchi & Saatchi and McCann on major global brands including Cathay Pacific, HSBC, Pink Lady Apples, and Pampers. That experience gave her a strong foundation in brand strategy, consumer behaviour, and the pace of modern business.

But Hollie didn't stop there.

She stepped out on her own, started freelancing while travelling, and eventually built a branding and design agency serving clients around the world. Over time, she grew a team and worked across a wide mix of industries — partnering with founders, creators, and small businesses to help turn ideas into real, revenue-generating offers.

Building HerHQ

As Hollie shared more of her journey online, she began building a community around freelancing, business, and creative independence. That eventually led to the launch of HerHQ in 2020 — an education company designed to help women start and scale freelance businesses.

HerHQ wasn't just a course. It was a full ecosystem: online programs, accelerators, workshops, webinars, retreats, and in-person experiences. The company helped thousands of women build more flexible and profitable careers — from those still in a 9-to-5 wanting to test freelancing, to established freelancers needing better business structure, through to women ready to scale by building teams and expanding their offers.

The numbers speak for themselves:

  • 150,000+ community members across platforms

  • 4,000+ women personally mentored

  • ~A$3.8 million in total revenue

  • US-incorporated business with an E-2 investor visa to scale internationally

Hollie built something real. And she did it by helping other people build something real too.

What This Means for You

As Innovation Manager, Hollie will be working directly with students and alumni across Venture UWA's programs — from early-stage founders in the incubator, to those looking to commercialise research, to students who just have an idea and don't know where to start.

Her focus is practical. She's passionate about helping people turn skills into viable businesses, test ideas faster, and build ventures that are not just exciting on paper — but actually useful, sustainable, and profitable in the real world.

If you've ever wondered:

  • "How do I actually make money from this idea?"

  • "How do I test this before I build the whole thing?"

  • "How do I turn what I'm good at into something people will pay for?"

Hollie is exactly the person you want in your corner.

Hollie is based at Venture UWA, Level 2, Student Guild Village. Whether you're a student with a side project, a PhD candidate thinking about commercialisation, or an alum ready to take the next step — come and have a chat.
