GreenTech Hub WA Invites EOIs for Next Innovation Challenge:

  • Apr 14
  • 2 min read

If you're working on sustainable construction, low-impact materials, or circular economy solutions — this is one to watch.

GreenTech Hub WA is gearing up for their next Innovation Challenge, and they're inviting Expressions of Interest for an Ecosystem Workshop to help shape it.

The focus this time: The Material Shift — low-impact construction materials.

What's an Ecosystem Workshop?

Before launching an Innovation Challenge, GreenTech Hub brings together industry, government, research, and innovators to define priorities and identify real-world opportunities. It's how they make sure the challenge addresses actual problems — not theoretical ones.

Their inaugural challenge, The Long Game, focused on long-duration energy storage. Five Champions were recently announced, including ventures like Allegro Energy, Isothermix, and Knode.

Now they're turning their attention to sustainable construction — and they want the right people in the room.

Event Details

📅 Wednesday 13 May 2026 📍 East Perth | 9:00am – 4:00pm + sundowner

Who should apply?

GreenTech Hub is looking for Expressions of Interest from individuals and organisations across:

  • Energy utilities

  • Mining companies

  • Construction firms and contractors

  • Manufacturing and materials companies

  • Government agencies and regulators

  • Engineering and design consultancies

  • Research institutions and universities

  • Philanthropies and NGOs

  • Corporates with sustainability targets

  • Startups and SMEs

If you're a UWA student or founder working in sustainability, materials science, construction, or circular economy — this is a chance to get in the room with the people shaping WA's green transition.

Why this matters

Construction is one of the most resource-intensive industries on the planet. The materials we use — concrete, steel, aluminium — account for a significant share of global emissions. Finding low-impact alternatives isn't just a niche problem. It's one of the biggest levers we have for decarbonisation.

Western Australia has the resources, the research capability, and the industry connections to lead on this. Events like this are where the groundwork gets laid.
