We're sharing two upcoming programs that align with what we care about at Venture UWA: helping students develop real-world skills, connect with industry, and create meaningful change.
Whether you're interested in Indigenous business and entrepreneurship or sustainability and the mining industry's future, these opportunities are worth knowing about.
Dream Big: Unlock the Power of Business
For Year 11–12 Indigenous students
UWA Business School, the School of Indigenous Studies, and the Noongar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) are hosting an inspiring day for young Indigenous students to explore business, entrepreneurship, and leadership.
Through the Djinda Innovation Program, students will hear from a panel of Indigenous entrepreneurs sharing their journeys, how they started, what inspired them, the challenges they faced, and their views on the future of business and technology.
This event is designed to spark curiosity and demonstrate how business skills can empower young Indigenous people to create meaningful change within their communities.
What's included:
Panel discussion with Indigenous entrepreneurs
Student activities and networking
Morning tea and lunch provided
Reflection session with take-home booklet
Tour of the School of Indigenous Studies and optional tour of Bilya Marlee
Schedule:
9:00am — Welcome
9:30am — Opening remarks from the Deans and NCCI
10:00am — Student activity: introductions, where they're from, and business ideas
10:30am — Morning tea and networking
11:00am — Panel discussion with Indigenous entrepreneurs
12:30pm — Lunch and networking
1:30pm — Reflection session
2:00pm — Tour of the School of Indigenous Studies

For university students passionate about sustainability
This 1.5-day collaborative challenge brings together students from Curtin, UWA, Murdoch, and ECU to tackle a real-world problem: creating sustainable development solutions for the mining industry, aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
If you care about sustainability and want hands-on experience working in a multidisciplinary team, this is your chance to build skills, connect with like-minded peers and mentors, and grow your portfolio.
This is your chance to:

Grow your portfolio of work experience in the sustainability space
