At Venture UWA, we’re always on the lookout for opportunities that help students connect, build, and grow — not just on campus, but across Australia’s wider innovation ecosystem.
This month, three incredible programs caught our attention. Whether you’re ready to start your own company, solve a sustainability challenge, or join a cutting-edge tech project — these are the opportunities you don’t want to miss.
1. Startmate Student Founder Bootcamp
Ever thought about starting a company while you’re still at uni? Startmate’s Student Founder Bootcamp is your chance to do exactly that.
This two-week summer program helps students turn ideas into real startups — fast. You’ll meet co-founders, build your first prototype, and finish by pitching to some of Australia’s top venture capitalists.
Best part? 💥 It’s free for students who participate in the Founder Challenge.
During the bootcamp, you’ll:
Work with mentors from Australia’s top startups
Learn how to validate ideas and build your first product
Collaborate with students from across the country
Pitch at an optional showcase event in Jan/Feb 2026
Startmate has already supported 1,400+ students, with over 60% going on to land jobs or start their own ventures.
This program is highly selective — but if you’re serious about exploring entrepreneurship, this is one to apply for.
Applications close: 20 October 2025
2. KPMG Nature Positive Challenge 2025
If you’re passionate about sustainability, innovation, and impact — this challenge is for you.
The KPMG Nature Positive Challenge 2025 is calling for startups and ventures that are helping regenerate the planet.
The focus this year:
AI for Nature – Using technology to protect and restore ecosystems
Circular by Nature – Reinventing how we use and recycle resources with a $370,000 prize pool
The challenge offers:
💸 $250K in consulting, tax, and accounting services
🌿 $100K Nature Positive Prize for the top venture
🗳️ $20K People’s Choice Award voted by KPMG staff
🤝 Access to investors, mentors, and industry leaders
Last year’s winner, Levur, used precision fermentation to create sustainable, lab-grown oils — replacing traditional palm oil. This is your chance to follow in their footsteps and make a global impact.
📣 We’re especially excited to see more WA students and First Nations-led startups get involved this year.
Applications open: 13 October – 9 November 2025
