Materia Health Engineering Internship 2026
Materia Health Engineering Internship 2026
About Us
Materia Health is an Australian, clinician-led medical technology company dedicated to
improving the preservation and transport of donor organs, tissues, blood products and
reproductive cells. Our team is developing the MateriaPOD™, a smart, portable and
reusable device that actively controls temperature throughout transport to reduce
cellular injury and improve patient outcomes. We are looking for curious and driven
engineering students who are excited by solving real-world healthcare challenges and
want to gain hands-on experience helping develop a novel medical device towards
clinical use.
About the Role
As an Engineering Intern, you'll play an active role in the research and development of
the MateriaPOD™ platform, supporting the design, testing and refinement of our device.
You will contribute across a range of R&D activities, including electronic hardware
development, prototype assembly and testing, technical documentation, and preclinical
study support. Working closely with our multidisciplinary team, you'll gain exposure to
the engineering challenges involved in advancing a medical device towards clinical use
while developing practical skills in a fast-paced startup environment.
We're looking for candidates who are natural problem-solvers with a passion for
hands-on design, prototyping and testing. You'll thrive in this role if you're agile, enjoy
working in a fast-paced and dynamic startup environment, and have the attention to
detail needed to deliver high-quality engineering, testing and documentation.
